Credential and Designation Explanation
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Management prepares
business leaders with analytical skills combined with human relations
competencies necessary to compete in a global environment. The
curriculum emphasizes solutions to real world problems as students are
prepared for middle and upper management positions. Graduates possess
the knowledge and skills for leadership positions in executive
management, sales and marketing, human resource management, consulting
and financial management. The MBA is usually the equivalent of one full year of academic study beyond the Bachelor's Degree. The Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a statement to the public that a
person has met the requirements of state law and has been issued a
license to practice public accounting by the State Board of
Accountancy. Only persons who are licensed can legally call themselves
a Certified Public Accountant or Public Accountants. As practitioners,
CPAs provide accounting, auditing, tax, financial planning, and
business management and finance consulting services. The core course
requirement consists of 45 semester units of accounting, auditing,
finance, or business-related subjects. A minimum of 10 semester units
must be in accounting / auditing subjects. The remaining 35
business-related units may include courses in the following subjects: Business
Administration, Business Communications, Computer Science, Economics,
Finance, Law, Management, Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics and Tax.
The
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation recognizes the unique
qualifications and expertise of those professionals engaged in
management accounting. This certification provides distinction in
today's economic climate and affords the opportunity to certify a
professional's expertise in the business and financial consulting areas
that are critical to the decision making process, and to establish an
objective measure of an individual's knowledge and competence in the
fields of management accounting, finance, business and consulting.
The
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), is a leader in the anti-fraud
community, noted as a specialist in the prevention detection and
deterrence of fraud. The designation represents the highest standards
held by the ACFE and each designee possesses expertise in all aspects
of the anti-fraud profession. These standards are set by the ACFE's
Board of Regents, who are elected by CFE members and drawn from the
most experienced members.
The Master's Degree in Taxation is
an advanced academic and professional degree. It is the acknowledged
badge of academic and professional distinction for tax accountants and
tax lawyers in practice. The general requirement for the attainment of
the tax degree in American colleges is the satisfactory completion of
one graduate level academic year of study in tax, approximately 360
classroom hours of study.
